The Junior League of Westchester-on-Hudson is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Reading, Writing and Rhythm in the Rivertowns!  The Junior League of Westchester-on-Hudson is committed to enhancing and furthering academic and cultural literacy for school-aged children in order to help these children be a success in school and in life.

Our Goal:  We seek to add enrichment programs for the children by working in conjunction with the local schools and our community partners to create meaningful experiences that will build upon and enhance school curricula within our service communities from Peekskill to Hastings.  Our overarching goal is to foster an appreciation of reading, writing, music and the arts in our children.

Thank you for supporting our Food Drive

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our "May No One Go Hungry" food drive.  Junior Leagues across Westchester County collected food for various organization and the JLOWH collected non-perishable items for the Food Bank of Westchester.  They were most appreciative of our efforts. The need at the Food Bank is an on-going one so please feel free to contribute on your own year round.  Please click here for a copy of the "Most Needed Items" list.  Thank you!

All Aboard The Reading Train!

Hop on the Junior League of Westchester-on-Hudson's Reading Train as we celebrate Reading, Writing and Rhythm in the Rivertowns!  The new member class of the JLWOH is organizing the First Annual Children's Book Drive in order to bring the Reading Train to deserving children. This spring, the books donated will be used to establish a library for children living in The Rockland Family Shelter in Rockland County.  Our goal is to empower children and families to discuss difficult social issues through story so we are looking for books with themes of friendship, sharing, diversity, family, tolerance, culture, feelings and perseverance.  Future book drives will support the maintenance of this library and help to establish other libraries in order to bring the Reading Train to children living in shelters and other facilities throughout the Rivertowns.  Books may be dropped off between April 22 and May 6th a the League house.  If you have questions please contact new members Lindsey Pauline or Kate Hall at thereadingtrain@jlwoh.org    Thank you for your support!
